Some of the Portrait Media I work with.
A beautiful media, pastel is perfect for almost any subject. My favorite surface is Colourfix Paper, which has a range of color from pale yellow to deep blue.
You can see how I build up layers of color in this video

Oil
Oil paintings can be so expressive! I love bold brushwork, layers of color, and a variety of textures on the surface. The surface can range from masonite board to traditional canvas.
Oil paintings start at $600 for one subject, 14" x 18"
6-8 weeks to create.
(Example shown is 18" x 18", acrylic, charcoal, and glaze on panel)
(Example shown is 20" x 30", charcoal and gesso on watercolor paper)
I love mixing a variety of media and techniques on one surface! The top example started as an unprimed birch panel. I then drew with charcoal pencil, and followed that with a watercolor wash. I also glazed the surface with transparent acrylic, and finalized areas with bolder spots of pure paint.
Mixed Media portraits start at $600 for 14" x 18".
How the Custom Portrait Process Works
Clients are asked to provide me, the artist, with 3-5 photos to work from of your subject(s).
A few thoughts on Selecting Photos...
Choose a photo that has enough information. If the flash was too bright, the skin tones may be washed out. If the file is too small, details may be lost in the eyes. If the grin is too large, the eyes may too closed.
Chose a photo that either captures a great moment (like the ladies on the bike, above) or the true personality of your subject.
I am very willing to look thru several photos and help you decide which would work best for a portrait. I have also combined several photos to get the exact colors and information we need.
Once we have chosen the photo, we decide on size and media.
I will then invoice you for 50% of the portrait price. This is a non-refundable deposit. Payment options can be discussed.
Prices listed above are for one subject, additional subjects are an additional 75% per figure.
Your portrait will take at least 4-6 weeks to complete. During that time your feedback is very important to me. I will e-mail you updates and progress reports, giving you ample opportunity to discuss likeness, color, and composition.
Only when you are 100% satisfied will I bill you for your final payment, plus the cost of shipping.
