"Can You Feel It"? was the third painting in this size that I completed as part of my thesis presentation, "Blurring the Line".  I was exploring images of dancers in a painterly way while implying gesture drawing to create a sense of movement.  The large format allowed me to move a great deal while creating the work, a type of dance in itself.  The surface is a series of multiple layers built up with oil paint, charcoal, and pastels while also sanding and scrapping away previous layers.  The colors are more saturated and intense than some of the other work in this series.  I kept in mind colors that would be inspired by upbeat jazz or rock music.
